Not only focusing on smartphone-type devices, Samsung doesn’t want to miss the opportunity to provide the best devices for gamers. After previously presenting a gaming monitor with a premium curved screen, now the series has been refined, through the presence of the Samsung Odyssey Neo G9.
In appearance, it still looks identical to the previous generation aka Odyssey G9. This is true, because Samsung has given many improvements to its internal components. Which can provide a much more impressive display than before, from color reproduction to brightness levels.
Hyesung Ha, Senior VP of Visual Display Business, Samsung Electronics said that the company wants to answer the demands and expectations of even the most demanding gamers by launching the innovative Odyssey gaming monitor portfolio last year. “With the introduction of the Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 with a Quantum Mini LED display, we are excited to offer our customers an advanced gaming experience, and demonstrate our continued leadership in the market.”
Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 Monitor Featured Features
Looking futuristic, the Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 has a curve of up to 1000R curvature, uses a white back body and is equipped with special light effects. With the Infinity Core Lightning+ system, there are 52 colors to choose from, with 5 different lighting effects, adjustable via the new CoreSync feature in this series.
The dimensions of the screen itself reach 49 inches with a ratio of 32: 9. It’s easy, like two 16:9 screens combined into one, having a resolution of up to 5K, a refresh rate of 240Hz and a very minimal response time of 1ms. And of course, what makes the visuals even better is the use of mini LEDs.
Compared to regular LEDs in the previous generation, mini LEDs have a physical dimension of 1/40 smaller. So that from 10 dimming zones, now the Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 has 2,048 dimming zones, which can precisely provide light on the part of the screen that is really needed. Increases the contrast ratio to 1,000,000:1.
Supporting the 12-bit format, the Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 screen has also been certified by VDE (Verband Deutscher Elektrotechniker), thanks to its screen brightness that can reach a maximum value of 2,000 nits, via Quantum HDR 2000. Also from TUV Rheinland to ensure eye health over time long.
Price of Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 Reaches IDR 30 Million
In terms of connectivity, Samsung has also increased output support via HDMI 2.1 VRR (variable refresh rate), in addition to DisplayPort 1.4 and other support that has existed since before, namely NVIDIA G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro. Ensure that the game is running, dynamically and seamlessly displayed from the screen of this latest Samsung gaming monitor.
Using the VESA 100×100 design, the Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 screen can be raised and tilted according to your taste. Samsung has also included software-based features to improve game visuals such as Black Equalizer, Low Input Lag Mode, Refresh Rate Optimizer and Super Arena Gaming UX.
Considering this is the first gaming monitor from Samsung to drop the Quantum LED feature from their Neo QLED TV, then the price is certainly premium. Consumers can get it with a budget of USD 2,500, aka around Rp. 36 million.
This monitor has been sold by pre-order in the first 17 countries, while sales in the United States only started on August 9.
