Oppo has added another member to the Reno series by launching Reno6 in Indonesia. Not only does it have a beautiful design and capable performance, but this latest phone has very complete features, including camera and video features to produce interesting content.
Intrigued by this one phone? Well this time I want to invite you to get to know OPPO Reno6 more closely, see the full review below!
Sleek and Stylish Design
By design, Reno6 comes with a design similar to its predecessor, the Reno5 series. This phone also still carries Reno Glow coloring technology, but with a series of capable additions. Oppo has now improved the coloring technique on Reno6 devices with five layers of Diamond Spectrum which is capable of producing millions of colors when viewed from different angles.
In terms of color, the Reno6 also looks elegant with two color variants namely, Stellar Black and Aurora like the unit we reviewed. On the surface layer of the back of the body, both are wrapped with a matte finish which makes this phone not easy to get dirty and leave fingerprints.
But actually, the dimensions of the OPPO Reno6 are made a little thicker at 7.8mm and weighs 173 grams which is 2 grams heavier than the previous generation. Meanwhile, to add convenience to its users, on the side of the rear body of the Oppo Reno6, it uses a 3D Curved design which is a square that curves smoothly on each side and feels very compact. During use, we are very comfortable using this phone for a long time, even when it is tucked into a trouser pocket.
90 Hz AMOLED Punch Hole Screen
Moving on to the screen, we think the OPPO Reno6 has an ideal size that carries thin bezels at the edges of the screen. Comes with a 6.4-inch AMOLED panel type (91.7% screen-to-body) which in quality has a bright and colorful display. In addition, the screen has a Full HD + resolution (2400 x 1080) with a refresh rate of 90 Hz and a Touch Sampling Rate of up to 180 Hz in Game Mode.
For users who like to watch streaming movies, OPPO Reno6 provides a series of features that make the eyes feel at home for long staring at the screen. The Reno6 display is backed by SGS Eye Care Display certification which ensures eye comfort and health for extended use, and Netflix and Amazon Video HD Streaming certifications.
At the top left of the screen, there is a punch hole for the placement of the selfie camera with a resolution of 44 MP. As for security, OPPO Reno6 embeds fingerprint scanner technology under the screen with a sensor that is quite responsive and accurate.
Feature
Before discussing the performance of this phone, there are three features that are quite interesting in Reno6 namely, Anti-Peeping, Air Gesture and O Relax. These three features certainly offer different functions which are very helpful and facilitate my daily activities.
Anti-peeping
You could say, smartphones are the identity of today’s users. Because in the smartphone a lot of personal information is stored. Related to this, security on a smartphone must be very safe. On Reno6, OPPO provides an Anti-peeping feature for notifications that can automatically hide message details on the pop-up screen.
When this feature is enabled, the notification content in the form of a pop-up notification will be hidden to prevent others from spying on the screen. Not only is it safe, but the Anti-peeping feature provides comfort when I open the screen in crowded places without worrying.
Water Gesture
The next feature that is quite interesting is Air Gesture. Even though there is only one front camera, OPPO still provides Air Gesture support on the Reno6. Where users can scroll the screen or pick up the phone with just a hand gesture. Of course, this feature is very useful when my hands are dirty or wet, I can still move the screen without touching the phone screen.
O Relax
In addition to superior productivity, OPPO wants users to be able to enjoy a more comfortable life with Reno6. O Relax is a built-in app that contains a series of relaxing sounds. This feature, which I think is unique, is specially designed for users who have activities with high levels of stress.
Through this O Relax feature, users can feel more calm and relaxed by displaying The Sounds of the Cities, White Noise Customization, and stress relief mini games.
Fast Performance With Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G
The kitchen runway OPPO Reno6 is supported by a middle-class processor from Qualcomm, namely Snapdragon 720G with 8nm fabrication which has eight cores. As is known, the G code on this processor indicates this chipset focuses on gaming needs that are equipped with various Elite Gaming features from Qualcomm. One of them is that it supports HDR gaming, which can provide smooth graphics when used when playing games.
OPPO Reno6 runs the Android 11 operating system with the ColorOS 11.1 interface which is able to provide smooth, good efficiency and also offers safer privacy for more comfortable use with a myriad of customization features that are neatly stored.
Meanwhile, to support multitasking use, Reno6 is equipped with 8GB RAM capacity and 128GB storage with UFS 2.1 technology which can be expanded with a microSD slot. Interestingly, with the presence of the RAM expansion feature, it is possible to increase memory with a choice of 2 GB, 3 GB, or 5 GB of RAM. Although the default RAM capacity is only 8 GB, this virtual RAM can facilitate multitasking on smartphones.
In testing the AnTuTu Benchmark OPPO Reno6 ranking, this mid-range smartphone has a pretty good performance through the existing test results. As the latest Reno series variant, this smartphone has a benchmark score of more than 300 thousand points.
Gaming Performance
To test its performance, there are two games that I tried to play, namely, PUBG Mobile and Genshin Impact. Both of these games are quite popular and require high specifications to run optimally.
PUBG Mobile
The Oppo Reno6 gaming performance in the PUBG Mobile game is quite good. This phone can run on HD quality smoothly and without lag. While in Balance and Ultra quality, Reno6 can run PUBG Mobile with very smooth and eye-pleasing frame rates.
Genshin Impact
Games that carry the Role-Playing Game (RPG) genre are often a benchmark for gaming performance. OPPO Reno6 itself is able to run Genshin Impact on Medium settings without any problems. Even in some parts of the graphics are crowded, the game is still playable and very smooth to play. The texture and detail of the resulting image has good quality and color saturation. Overall, while playing these two games for about an hour, I felt quite comfortable and didn’t encounter any significant problems.
The temperature is still relatively safe, with a special cooling system, namely, the Multi Cooling-System which is an aluminum alloy with high thermal conductivity so that OPPO Reno6 has a heat dissipation capacity of 21.9 percent more efficient.
In addition, to make playing games more comfortable, OPPO Reno6 is equipped with a series of features to support better power optimization.
Game Space:
- Game Focus Mode, this feature allows to block or disable all distractions including chat notifications or incoming calls while playing games.
- Performance Mode, there are three options to choose from, namely Competition Mode, Balanced Mode, and Low Power Mode. In Competition Mode, all cellphone memory resources are made for maximum gaming performance.
- Bullet Screen Message, notifications from instant messaging will appear on the screen as an overlay in the game. This allows users to view the contents of the message without having to exit the game.
- Quick Start Up, the feature is able to identify favorite games that are played most often and keep them active in the background. As a result, if the user wants to play the game again, the device will automatically create a shortcut to go directly to the game’s home page in one click. Thus it is claimed to be able to save time when you want to play games.
Beautiful Camera With Many Features
Enter the camera section which is one of the main selling points of this phone. OPPO Reno6 is equipped with a quad-camera with a 64MP Main Camera F/1.7 main sensor, an 8MP 119° F/2.2 ultra-wide lens, a 2MP F/2.4 macro (4cm) lens, and a 2MP Mono F2.4 mono lens. As for selfie needs, on the front there is a camera with a resolution of 44MP F/2.4 which is equipped with an AI intelligent sensing algorithm. In my opinion, with this camera configuration it is possible to shoot well in various shooting scenarios.
My first test was on the main camera. The auto exposure (AE) performance for this camera can be said to be very reliable, it can be seen that the texture of the mosque building and the branches of the trees still look accurate even though they are far away. Details can also be presented well, as evidenced by the conblock lines in the mosque courtyard area.
Switching on the wide camera, the colors presented look accurate. The blue color of the swimming pool and the yellowish green leaves that are far enough apart look good. The area in the sky also has a fairly clear cloud texture. Although it doesn’t have as high a detail as the main camera, I think it performs very well for a wide lens size.
Shooting using the HDR Mode on the Reno6 gives quite good results. When trying to photograph a subject that is quite hot, the colors of all the leaves and grass are very clear, with the texture of the object and parts of the tree trunk clearly visible as well. In fact, the pillars at the back are still very clearly visible. Overall, this mode is able to produce quality photos with good exposure performance.
When I try to take pictures using 2x zoom the results are still good. Color performance is maintained with image details like I was shooting with a wide lens.
Likewise when I increase the magnification to 5x zoom, the results are quite impressive. Details of the outline of the building and the leaves of the trees are not broken. When compared to 2x zoom, the resulting color is barely noticeable color loss.
The results from the Reno6 macro photography have pretty good detail. This is because the small insects that perch on the leaves are very clearly visible on every part of their wings. The object’s focus point can also be done up to a distance of 4 cm.
In low light conditions, OPPO Reno6 can provide stunning results when I try to use night mode or night mode. First I took a photo without using Night mode with the actual situation completely dark. After activating Night mode, the details of the leaves on the water can be seen clearly, with the texture and overall color being quite preserved.
If you like bokeh photos, the Bokeh Flare Portrait feature is worth a try. This feature can help take portrait photos with a blurred background so that it looks professional.
Like the photo above. the object is one of the Gadget Squad teams holding a mirrorless camera. The focus of the image is on the part of the hand holding the camera, this part looks real enough that the writing on the camera lens is clearly legible, even hand wrinkles are felt. The focus and background of the image are also neat, it can be seen from the focus flow to the blur background. The green color of the leaves in the background, including the line of sunlight on the right side of the image adds to the aesthetics of the captured image.
One of the most recognizable of HP Oppo is the camera feature. The device offers a sophisticated front camera for taking selfies. The front camera of OPPO Reno6 has a sensor with a resolution of 44 MP with the flagship features of AI Color Portrait and Bokeh Flare Portrait. For selfie photo needs in almost all light conditions, this phone provides good quality.
Ultra-clear 108MP
In addition, OPPO Reno6 comes with a significant improvement to the OPPO Image-clear Engine algorithm . This system-level optimization allows users to take clear shots of moving subjects or quickly capture sharp moments . OPPO Reno6 is supported by the Ultra-clear 108MP Image feature, which can display sharp details and results, giving users a lot of convenience when editing.
Flash Snapshot
With this feature, users can also take advantage of the Image Clear Engine (ICE), which is OPPO’s exclusive technology. This feature will focus on objects automatically and quickly from the moment the user turns on the camera, ensuring quick snapshots are always clear and stable.
Videos
Not only stuck in producing quality photos, the Oppo Reno6 is also very reliable, when used to create video content. This phone is capable of recording videos up to 4k 30fps resolution with supporting features such as ultra steady features, front and rear camera bokeh videos, complete with AI Portrait color effects that make videos cooler and more dramatic.
For users who like to create vlog video content, the Reno6 can rely on the dual-view video feature that can record video from both camera points of view simultaneously. When activated, the screen will be divided into two parts to display camera captures from the front and rear cameras. With the presence of this feature, of course, it will be easier for users to produce content for social media.
Not only that, talking about the features themselves are already complete enough to produce interesting and quality content. Some of its other flagship features include Bokeh Flare cinematic videos, portrait videos with AI Highlight Video, Portrait Beautification Video, and AI Pallet editing features.
Bokeh Flare Portrait Video
With this feature you can shoot professional videos where the vibrant backlight is transformed into gorgeous bokeh halos. This feature carries a concept that is almost similar to the Night Flare Portrait found in the previous generation. The difference is, now the Bokeh Flare Portrait found in Reno6 can not only be used for photos, but also for recording videos. Using OPPO’s artificial intelligence algorithm to pinpoint the original light source in the background and create bokeh light points at various levels of depth, mimicking what a professional camera would produce.
Shooting and image processing can be completed in as little as 10ms, enabling real-time preview of Bokeh Flare Video Portraits. Bokeh Flare Portrait Video on the Reno6 can automatically optimize the background with bokeh light points while brightening the portrait subject, so users can get a professional-grade portrait effect with just one click.
AI Highlight Video
In addition to the Bokeh Flare Video Portrait, the Reno6 has the superior feature of AI Highlight Video. AI Highlight video works for clearer videos at night or with strong backlights, AI Highlight Video on the Reno6 will automatically detect ambient light and help create clearer, brighter and more vibrant portrait videos.
When taking portrait videos at night with AI Highlight Video, the Ultra Night Video algorithm will be automatically activated to increase brightness and restore original colors. Video textures will look more detailed, even in darker areas.
With very strong backlight conditions, users can still shoot super-clear portrait videos with the Reno6. When recording in strong backlight, the Live HDR Algorithm is activated, allowing the camera to capture clearer shots, retaining color and detail in dark areas.
Portrait Beauty Video
While this feature incorporates the recognition of up to 193 facial points for video, Portrait Beautification Video on the Reno6 provides a smooth and natural beautification effect for portrait videos. This feature can also remove skin imperfections on the face while maintaining natural features, matching the skin tone of the face with the neck and arms, and brightening the eyes to make them look more special.
AI Palette
AI Palette can easily copy user preferences favorite portrait styles into photo collections with just one click, giving users absolute creative control over every photo produced.
In addition, to tamper with video recordings, you can also rely on the SOLOOP video editor application which is specifically present and has been installed directly on this cellphone. Now this application also comes with a Soloop Template, where you can choose various interesting short video templates to upload on social media networks such as TikTok or Instagram Reels for example.
Battery
The battery capacity of OPPO Reno6 is not too big, to support its life, this phone is equipped with a battery capacity of 4310 mAh which is quite energy efficient during use. Economical, yes maybe that’s the right word to describe how tough this phone battery is. One of the factors is the use of the 720G chipset, in addition to offering powerful performance for middle-class cellphones, it is also very efficient in consuming battery power.
Not only that, the Super Power Saving Mode and Super Nighttime Standby features will help maximize the last battery when it is needed most. Of course with this, users will feel safe when they know the last battery life can last until they find a place to charge. Even though the battery condition is only 5 percent left, users can still call, text, or use navigation applications smoothly.
If used for daily activities, it is sufficient to support my daily activities with the capacity offered. Starting from the phone, playing games, opening social media to creating photo or video content. I also tried to run the PUBG Mobile game for 35 minutes, the battery only decreased by about 8%. For charging, the Reno6 supports 50W fast charging. This fast charging feature allows the phone battery to be fully charged 100 percent in less than an hour or 45 minutes.
Conclusion
After I tried using this cellphone for two weeks, Reno6 has many advantages and interesting features that I like and can actually be applied in everyday life. Moreover, this cellphone is also capable of producing high-quality and interesting photo or video content with a myriad of powerful features. Priced at Rp. 5,199,000, Reno6 is very worth it and can be a recommendation for those of you who are looking for a cellphone in the middle class.
