A Line of New Laptop Technology Trends 2021

A wide variety of laptop technologies  have appeared at this year’s Consumer Electronic Show (CES), some of which stand out for using silicon technology from AMD and Intel.
Here are the most prominent new laptop technologies on display at CES 2021.

Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 30 Series GPU

Last year Nvidia introduced the new 30 series GPU which costs less than its predecessor but performs better. But according to Popsci , the 30 series is considered too big and power hungry which makes it incompatible for laptops.
At CES, Nvidia introduced specific laptops with these specifications, namely the RTX 3060, RTX 3070, and RTX 3080. RTX is capable of supporting ray tracing , a graphics technology that was once the main choice for producing special effects.

Since 2018 ray tracing has entered the world of PC gaming and then to the Xbox Series X and PS5 in 2019. Nvidia claims that the base RTX 3060 variant is capable of producing more power than the PS5.
In the highest variant, the RTX3080 is claimed to be able to reach 100 fps at 1440p resolution, this is a great achievement in the laptop world.

Some people might expect to use this chip in their laptop, but this chip is only available in some of the latest gaming laptops such as the Razer Blade Advanced edition or the Asus ROG Zephyrus Duo.
Both laptops debuted at CES on January 13 with prices ranging from US$2,500 to US$3,000.

Intel ‘Tiger Lake’ Core H-series

Intel released the 11th generation H-series chips that are intended for high-capacity laptops. There are three new versions, including Core i5, Core i7, and a special edition Core i7 for the high end series lineup.
They all use Intel’s Turbo Boost technology, which boosts single-core performance. That extra performance is useful for users who need a lot of resources like playing games.

CPU AMD Ryzen 5000 Cezanne

Last year, AMD made big leaps in performance and battery life in processor products. The chips released this year include 13 new models, which reach the mid-range and high-end laptop market.
At the high end, the HX series targets gaming PCs. There are two SKUs available, the Ryzen 9 5900X and Ryzen 9 5980 HX, both of which have 8 cores and 16 threads capable of overclocking or pushing the chip beyond its usual performance.
AMD claims the 5900X can outperform by more than a third the performance of Intel’s i9 chips.
AMD’s U-series chips are on par with Intel’s Core i7 Tiger Lake chips, and AMD claims to have the upper hand in terms of performance.

Acer Chromebook Spin

An important announcement from Acer this year is the aluminum Chromebook, this laptop uses the AMD Ryzen 3000 C-series chip. Earlier models used integrated graphics hardware, but the Ryzen chips have Radeon graphics built in, which makes for an increase when GPU performance is involved in gaming and video editing.

Microsoft Surface Pro 7+

The Microsoft Surface Pro 7+ which is made for the office market relies on a Tiger Lake processor specifically for laptops. An interesting feature of this laptop is the removable SSD boot drive for security.
If users are concerned that their laptop has been stolen, the primary drive can be removed from the computer so that it can be stored more securely. Even if someone mastered the machine there wouldn’t be any information that could be stolen.
Users can also attach the drive to another laptop to continue work, this is a solution if the laptop has problems.
